Antique Butterflies - c. 1940's 58-1/2 x 87-1/2 (149 x 222 cm). A cheerful, old-fashioned, hand-quilted country charmer. Twelve full size blocks with four large butterflies each, and three half blocks with two butterflies each (for the pillow end). Hand appliqued with a blanket stitch in various thread colors, with orchid borders and sashing, and white binding. Hand quilted around the butterflies, and crosshatched in borders and sashing, It has some of the character marks a quilt of this age would be expected to show, i.e.; age spots, small worn areas, and a small repair on the back.
